yummy. I like chocolate.

Haha this lady offered us home-made cookies when we went to visit her..my tutor was shaking her head at me behind her back..she told me later that the little old lady and her son had a marijuana history...her son used to sprinkle marijuana into her cornflakes :p her cookies might have had some special ingredients..

So I think most people know this, but I'll just say it again..do not accept any form of food from a patient. (unless its nicely wrapped up in packaging) there was an incident where a patient offered peanuts to a nurse, and it turned out that those peanuts were originally peanuts in m&ms :( he had actually licked the m&ms clean of the chocolate bits, leaving the peanuts. bleah.

ok dinnertime now..think I'm stearing clear of peanuts for awhile..

olivia: haha we learnt the short-form of it in class! pneumo-silicosis. it apparantly originated long ago in areas with volcanoes. or something like that.
xinli: yea I was pretty amazed when I first heard of it.. :)

here's a view from my window (if you're focusing on one of the little ornaments sitting on my windowsill) :) I've been playing with my sister's camera...its so cool..I'm gonna get one of these EOS cameras for myself next time:)

I was just on the phone with my grandma:) I really wish I could speak more cantonese..not just because it sounds nice, but also cos then I'd be able to carry out a proper conversation with her :p visiting all these old patients at the hospital and at their homes reminds me more of her..and seeing so many sick old people makes me feel like I should be spending more time with her now:(

anyway, some interesting things I learnt in the last week.
1. the longest word in the english dictionary - pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis. its an occupational lung disease. try saying that really fast 10 times in a row.
2. situs inversus - a condition where you're born with all your internal organs on the opposite side of where they're supposed to be. so the patient's heart is on his right and his liver's on his left :p

hmm. It's frustrating sometimes..then again it always has been..since young..I try to understand, I really do. you just pretend like nothing's wrong, and then you end up making me feel like its my fault :( sigh. maybe it is.

another cold windy day to be out :p the only thing I like about winter is snow! and the sad thing is it doesn't even get cold enough for there to be snow here. so winter in sydney is winter without the nice part :(

And I found out today that my tutor is so young! she's only 5yrs older than me. And she plays the drums too:) I noticed her tapping away to the music in the car:) heh we had a nice discussion about how much we missed playing:) and she can play 9 instruments fluently..wow:) I picked up my sticks the other day and my fingers are so clumsy now :( oh well.

and something weird..there's a new pole in the neighbourhood! ok lm first noticed it. But its really bizzare..its just in the middle of the road and doesn't seem to serve any purpose..but we both don't remember seeing it there before and we walk along that road practically everyday. Its just a new lone tall pole on the side of the road. but weird things seem to happen on our road..this other time we spotted a computer mouse dangling over one of the tall electrical lines..no idea how or why it was all the way up there. its almost impossible to throw it up that high..unless the mouse fell from the sky..then there's the stuffed toy koala bear thats sitting up in the tree..its just weird.

SOME people have told me that I've been bloggin less. haha sorry..I'll try to update more:) Today's freeezing :p well at least getting caught in the rain gives me a reason to finally wash my bag. And the wind was just crazy..during class today the wind was blowing so hard against the windows we could see the window metal frames actually bending inward..scarey. Its times like these I actually miss singapore weather..

But the cold weather has brought out little nice gestures from so many people:) like yesterday on a home visit, me and my tutor were pretty much soaked from the short run into this old couple's home..we were visiting the husband for his heart condition and the wife was so sweet..offering us cookies and hot tea/coffee and seating us comfortably next to the heater and even offering to help us wash and throw our wet clothes into the dryer! Although I really don't see how she would have expected us to sit there naked in her living room..but these old people are really very sweet and funny at times:) I'm starting to like working with old people more and more..although I'm not quite sure what the elderly population back home is like..

Right. Now I'm going to toss my wet clothes into the machine and wash my poor bag. Then I gotta brave the rains again to go out for dinner! Speaking of washing my bag....So chris just bought my sister a crumpler bag, and my mother's first response was "oh look it's a pirated timberland! they can't even get the tree to look right."
