my search for verve

Wednesday, February 02, 2005

Buster just came back from the hospital. I was so scared for him earlier! He's been quiet and lethargic the whole day, which I thought shouldn't be too unusual after surgery..but then at about 8 tonight, we noticed a puddle of blood on the floor! He was bleeding and leaving little pools of blood wherever he went!He was trembling too and his skin felt warm to the touch. He didn't want to eat lunch or dinner and would hardly respond when we called his name..I felt so sad for him..We loaded him into the car and brought him to Mount Pleasant..

The vet says its common for dogs to experience fevers after surgery, and she bandaged his wound so he wouldn't lick or bite at it. He also got a shot to bring down the fever. He's looking a lot better right now thankfully..He actually looks pretty clownish, with a pink & white bandage around his middlesection, a yellow bandage around his paw where the vet took blood for his bloodtest, and a multicoloured headband around his ears to keep them from falling into his food/water when he bends over. Poor guy. Its so much tougher to treat animals than humans. At least humans can tell the doctor how they feel and where the pain is. We can only guess with animals. I really wonder how buster feels right now. The poor guy is on a porridge diet now, and I think he hates it. My sister painstakingly mashed boiled rice, egg and tiny bits of carrot for him, but I think he finds it rather distasteful. We had to feed him little bites of his dry dog food slowly to make sure he chewed.

Anyway, I had a food fest with Lionel today. We went to Ikea to buy stuff and to eat SWEDISH MEATBALLS. Yummy. They tasted even better than the last time I remember eating them. And Ikea raised the price of the meatballs again. Sigh. Then we had dinner at Newton! My dad wasn't using his car so we drove down to Newton for stingray & fried rice!Very satisfying. The food at Newton is really good. Its qt near my house but pretty out of the way by public transport..haha so I shall make full use of my driving privileges and drive to good food!It wasn't just the good food, but also the great company today. Sigh I'll miss these food fests.

I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. John 15:11-12

cheng: Haha thanks for the consolation dear:) I just hope he recovers from his surgery really really soon :P Make sure Tisha eats slowly and in small portions!!!
nicole: Yeah I've got a 2 week break in June..but not sure if I'll be able to come back yet... :P hopefully I can!!:)
